This is my current Notebook, the Samsung P30 XVM1500:

  • CPU: Intel Pentium M 1,5 GHz (Dothan core), 1024KB L2 Cache
  • RAM: 2 * 256MB PC2100 DDR-SDRAM (DDR266)
  • Chipset: Intel 855 PM (Centrino)
  • Graphics: ATI Mobility Radeon 9200 (M9), AGP 4x, 32MB
  • Display: 15" SXGA+, 1400x1050 pixels
  • Hard disk: IBM IC25N060ATMR04-0, 60GB, 4200rpm, 2,5"
  • Optical drive: Teac DV-W22E, 2x DVD-R, 1x DVD-RW, 2x DVD-RAM, 8x DVD-ROM
  • LAN: Realtek 8139
  • Wireless LAN: Intel PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B (Centrino)
  • Sound: Intel 82801DB AC97 audio controller
  • PCMCIA: 1 slot, Ricoh RC5C590 controller
  • Firewire: Ricoh R5C552 controller
  • Modem: Intel 82801DB AC97 modem controller
  • Ports: 2 * USB 2.0, IEEE1394 (Firewire), Serial, Parallel, PS/2, IrDA, Headphones, Microphone, VGA, S-VHS TV out, RJ-11 (Modem), RJ-45 (LAN)
  • BIOS: Phoenix NoteBIOS 4.0, ACPI, no APM

So the only thing it doesn't have is a usable operating system and Bluetooth, but the latter can be added as a USB module for 34 Euros ($15), so what...

Comparison with other P30 models

The XVM1500 model groups itself into the initial P30 family, which has been available since fall 2003, as follows:

Don't ask me why they use this silly selection of operating systems, the XVM1500, which I own, ships with Windows XP Home Edition, pretty useless for a notebook that ships with the slogan "Pentium M for professionals"...

Comparison with the P35 family

In the midst of 2004, the P35 family superseded the P30 family, whose main new feature is the new Pentium M core, codename "Banias":
